The elegant white dress featured a sweetheart neckline with silver beaded accents around the top, which paired perfectly with her delicate De Beers necklace (she also had on earrings and a ring from the same brand). Her blonde hair was styled in big, bouncy curls by Evanie Frausto, giving off major Madonna and Marilyn Monroe vibes. Her makeup was fresh and glowing, topped off with a bold red lip, thanks to makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez. To give Carpenter a "dreamy pinup" vibe for the evening, Gonzalez used Velour lashes. MTV VMA 2024: Taylor Swift thanks boyfriend Travis after winning for Best Collab

Taylor Swift and Post Malone took home the first award of the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards for best collaboration, handed to them by Flavor Flav and Olympian Jordan Chiles. Swift looked stunning for the night dressed in a shimmery silver outfit. The global sensation began her acceptance speech by giving remembrance to everyone who lost their lives and loved ones during 9/11, 23 years ago, before discussing Malone. "There is a reason Post Malone is everyone in music's favorite person to collaborate with," she shifted her attention to him. "It has taken forever for me to get him to stop calling me ma'am." In her speech, Taylor also thanked her boyfriend Travis Kelce who she said would cheer her while shooting for Fortnight. "Everything that man touches turns into happiness and fun and magic, and I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot,” she said on stage.  Highlights from MTV VMA 2024 Women dominated the award show, no example greater than an imaginative, medieval set from Chappell Roan. Drag queen Sasha Colby introduced her with 'your favorite drag queen's favorite artist,'  a reference to Roan's now famous Coachella performance, which in turn was inspired by Colby. Real fans no doubt got a kick out of the hyper-referential tidbit. Roan appeared in armor, shooting a lit crossbow to castle gates that stood behind her, burning them in the process. Her dancers were knights, battling each other in incredible choreography as she sang her queer pop hit, 'Good Luck, Babe'. Tyla won the best Afrobeats award. Katy Perry received the Video Vanguard Award, performing a eight-song medley spanning her career: 'Roar','E.T', 'California Gurls', 'Teenage Dream','I Kissed a Girl','Firework', 'Lifetimes." "I did that all on the first day of my period, can you believe it?" she joked in her acceptance speech. "There are so many things that have to align to have a long and successful career as an artist. There are no decade long accidents." She also teased a new song, 'I'm His, He's Mine,' featuring Doechii, which samples the Crystal Waters classic, 'Gypsy Woman (La Da Dee La Da Da).' Previous recipients of the Video Vanguard Award include Shakira, Beyoncé, Minaj, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Missy Elliott. Few artists are having a bigger year than Sabrina Carpenter, who brought her summery-pop to the award show. She powered through her hit singles 'Please Please Please', 'Taste' and 'Espresso' while dancing with a moon man and an alien. An army of Slim Shady-lookalikes followed Eminem as he kicked off the VMAs , launching into a medley of his hits 'Houdini' and 'Somebody Save Me', featuring a broadcast feed of Jelly Roll. (The song references Jelly Roll's massive country radio hit, 'Save Me') Megan Thee Stallion welcomed the crowd as a first-time host Wednesday night, who joked that the VMAs now stands for the 'voluptuous Megan awards'.Then Karol G took over, for a fiery performance of her hit, 'Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido.' Blackpink's LISA made her way to the VMA stage for the first time as a soloist, powering through two of her brand-new singles, 'New Woman' and 'Rockstar'. Shawn Mendes made along-awaited return, debuting a new John Mayer-esq. acoustic number, 'Nobody Knows'. Anitta performed, 'Paradise', 'Alegria', and 'Savage Funk', joined by DJ Khaled, Fat Joe and Tiago PZK. The 40th VMAs are being held at the UBS Arena on New York's Long Island. The night is stacked celebrities and promises a lot more Swift, who arrived at the award show wearing a green tartan corset with a matching train and long black leather gloves. The pop star leads the nominations with 12, eight for her 'Fortnight' music video, two social categories and nods in the best pop and artist of the year categories. She's followed by her 'Fortnight' collaborator Post Malone, who has 11. He is nominated along with Swift 10 times and earned his 11th nom for his country hit 'I Had Some Help', featuring Morgan Wallen. Winning would give Swift a prominent stage to voice support for Kamala Harris' presidential bid. Swift endorsed the vice president Tuesday night, moments after Harris' debate with former president Donald Trump ended. Shaboozey reacted to her endorsement on the VMAs red carpet, telling The Associated Press, "I think you just do you, you know? Do what you're feel in your heart. Just be honest with yourself," he said. "Just walking your truth, you know." (with inputs from AP)

Beyoncé: ‘Fame can at times feel like prison’

Grammy-winner Beyonce has talked about music, family and fame, which she says can feel like prison at times. In a magazine interview  to promote her new whiskey line, Beyonce said, “I create at my own pace, on things that I hope will touch other people. I hope my work encourages people to look within themselves and come to terms with their own creativity, strength, and resilience.” She said that she focuses on “storytelling, growth, and quality.” Beyonce added, “I’m not focused on perfectionism. I focus on evolution, innovation, and shifting perception. Working on the music for Cowboy Carter and launching this exciting new project feel nothing like prison, nor a burden.” The Naughty girl hitmaker said that she only works on what liberates her. “It is fame that can at times feel like prison. So, when you don’t see me on red carpets, and when I disappear until I have art to share, that’s why,” she said. Beyonce said that despite being one of the most famous people in the world, she does her best to lead a normal life for herself and her family. “One thing I’ve worked extremely hard on is making sure my kids can have as much normalcy and privacy as possible, ensuring my personal life isn’t turned into a brand,” said the singer, who shares daughter Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Rumi and Sir, 7, with producer-husband Jay-Z. “It’s easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art. I have made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family. No amount of money is worth my peace,” she added. Beyonce gave a rare glimpse into her private life. “Most days I try to wake up around 6 am, squeezing in an hour or two of work before the little ones are up. Parenting while working, I move forward, embracing the beauty and the chaos of it all. Our home is alive with cousins and friends, spontaneous talent shows, and the clatter of dominoes. I’ve been trying to focus on my health, taking my supplements, and eating very clean. I’ve given up meat, except for turkey, this summer. I’m trying to muster the strength to work out, but I just can’t do it today. Maybe tomorrow,” she said. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Elon Musk slams Taylor Swift for backing Kamala: ‘I will give you a child...'

The election madness has begun in the West, and the U.S. Presidential campaigning is in full swing. The two main candidates for the Vice President seat are Indian-origin Kamala Harris from the Democrats and JD Vance from the Republicans. Both have been in the spotlight recently, particularly since the "Mother of Swifties," Taylor Swift, decided to publicly declare her support for Kamala Harris. Taylor Swift took to Instagram to back the current Vice President of the USA, writing a detailed post about her position in the election. In her closing statement, Swift made a veiled reference to JD Vance’s 2021 comment, which has sparked further controversy. Elon Musk Reacts to Taylor Swift’s Post The post has caught the attention of Tesla and X head honcho Elon Musk, who has responded with a taunting comment directed at Swift, clearly backing JD Vance in the current election battle. Musk wrote, “Fine Taylor ... you win ... will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 11, 2024 Taylor Swift Backs Kamala Harris To provide context, here’s what Taylor Swift shared on Instagram: “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) Swift also addressed a fake video circulating online that falsely depicted her endorsing Donald Trump. She expressed concern about AI and misinformation, stating, “It really conjured up my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.” Announcing her support for Kamala Harris, Swift added, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.” “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story. With love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” she concluded. The debate is likely to heat up further as the Presidential campaigning continues. It will be interesting to see how celebrities continue to use their platforms to express their opinions.

Zoe Saldana wants to direct an action film

Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana is having a terrific run at the movies with her films having earned $15 billion. However, the actress has shared that she wants to make her foray into direction. The actress shared that the genre of action films feels the most appealing to her as a director, reports ‘Variety’. She said, “I’ve never seen a woman direct James Bond. I like ‘The Equalizer’. I watch crime shows, and, so, maybe in the future. I’ve always been drawn to heist themes. ‘Heat’ is a film that I need to watch at least once a year and analyse it, and the way that Michael Mann just pairs it all together, the way that everybody performed it. So, I would love to start with an action-heist sort of thing”. As per ‘Variety’, she further mentioned that she never boxes herself in. She said, “I can do anything. Just like Ang Lee did ‘Sense and Sensibility’, correct? I can also do a Jane Austen one day. You never know”. Her film ‘Emilia Perez’ has entered Toronto Film Festival with loads of awards-season buzz after conquering Cannes, where Saldana shared the best actress award with her co-stars Selena Gomez, Karla Sofía Gascon and Adriana Paz. The audacious Spanish-language film from French director Jacques Audiard makes its Canadian premiere on Tuesday at the festival. During the hour-long sit-down conversation in a packed TIFF theatre, the ‘Avatar’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star touched on a broad range of topics, including her starring roles in some of the highest-grossing films of all time including James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ movies as well as the past two ‘Avengers’ movies. She said, “It’s all the technology that Jim uses (in ‘Avatar’ that) gives way for the performer to take pride and priority over his or her entire performance. We’re not lending our voices. We’re not doing any of that. In 2009, Jim, as usual, was ahead of his time. He’s a scientist at heart, so he’s creating things that people need time to understand. He helped me realise that I should be okay with that. And at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if people will get it”. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. ‘Mean Girls’ actress Lacey Chabert says her daughter didn’t know what ‘fetch’ me

Actress Lacey Chabert, who played Gretchen Wieners in the teen classic “Mean Girls”, said that her daughter Julia had no idea what the popular term “fetch” from the film meant.  The actress, who is parent to 8-year-old daughter along with husband David Nehdar, said on the “Today” show: “When she was younger, she was like, ‘What’s fetch, why does everyone say that to you?'” “She asked me a couple years ago, ‘Mom, do other people watch those movies that you make?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, baby, they’re not just for you,'” she said, wrapping up the amusing anecdote. In one scene in the 2004 film, which hilariously traces the social dynamics of a group of frenemies in high school, Gretchen called Lindsay Lohan’s character Cady Herron’s crush on a Mathlete “so fetch,” to which Regina George replying: “Gretchen, stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen. It’s not going to happen.” Starring Jonathan Bennett, Tim Meadows, Amanda Seyfried, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, Lizzy Caplan and Fey, the movie excoriates the impossibilities of teen girlhood and the chaos that ensues when an outsider is enlisted to spy on the most popular group in school, reports deadline.com. Earlier this year, the film was remade as a musical, based on the original 2018 Broadway adaptation. That film, produced by Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels, saw Angourie Rice as Cady, Renée Rapp as Regina and Auli’i Cravalho as Janis. In addition to “Mean Girls”, Chabert appeared in “Lost in Space” opposite Gary Oldman and Matt LeBlanc, “Not Another Teen Movie” and a slew of Hallmark projects, including the recently released “His & Hers”. Her first role as a child actress was the part of Bianca Montgomery, the daughter of Erica Kane, on “All My Children”. She gained the spotlight for her portrayal of Claudia Salinger in the television drama “Party of Five.” This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Harvey Weinstein faces critical health crisis after emergency heart surgery

Former film producer Harvey Weinstein is in critical condition following emergency heart surgery performed earlier on September 9, Monday. The 72-year-old Weinstein was rushed from Rikers Island to Bellevue Hospital late last night after experiencing severe chest pain, prompting urgent medical intervention, according to Deadline. Weinstein, who has been incarcerated while awaiting a second trial on sexual assault and other sex crimes, underwent surgery to address his heart condition. However, despite the operation, sources close to the situation revealed to Deadline that Weinstein remains in "very rough shape" and is described as being in "critical condition." This latest health crisis for Weinstein comes as he was scheduled to return to a Manhattan courtroom this week. The troubled producer, whose legal battles have been well-documented since his arrest in May 2018, was slated to appear in court on September 12 before Justice Curtis Faber. The possibility of this hearing proceeding is now in question, depending on Weinstein's recovery, as per Deadline. Weinstein's spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, confirmed the surgery but offered no further details on his current status. "According to Craig Rothfeld and Juda Engelmayer, Mr Weinstein was rushed to Bellevue Hospital last night due to several medical conditions," Engelmayer stated, adding, "We can confirm that Mr Weinstein had a procedure and surgery on his heart today, however, we cannot comment any further than that," as per Deadline. Engelmayer also expressed gratitude to the New York City Department of Correction and Rikers Island for their swift response. The former mogul's health issues have been a recurring theme since his incarceration. Weinstein has faced multiple medical challenges over the past six years, including bouts with COVID-19 and other serious conditions. His health has often deteriorated at pivotal moments in his legal proceedings, raising questions about the timing and impact of his ailments on his court appearances. Weinstein's legal troubles began in late 2017, following a series of exposes by the New York Times that detailed decades of alleged abuse. As per Deadline, convicted in February 2020 on charges of first-degree sexual assault and third-degree rape, Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison. He is also serving a 16-year sentence in Los Angeles following a separate conviction. In April 2024, a New York appellate court overturned his 2020 verdict, leading to a formal appeal of his Los Angeles conviction in June. With Weinstein's health in such a precarious state, the planned retrial for his East Coast rape case, tentatively scheduled to begin on November 12, remains uncertain, as per Deadline.
